  1. In the video William Golding tries to explain some things about the story. He said he lives as a boy, not as a girl, and he suffered things of boys, and this is the reply of why did he really write about little boys. And he also thought if he put women into the story, they could become in a kind of image of symbolization of society.
William said that one of the things that girls don’t appear in the story was because they could create a special relationship with the boys, and they might have sexual intentions between them. So, he used the hunting of the pig to symbolize the sexual imagery in the story. He considered that ‘sex’ was something trivial to base the book on it, which is above the problem of evil, and how people have to live to get into a society. In my opinion, I think he had an extensive imagination to write this book, because it supposes a lot of things, like symbolization, different meanings and points of view. In other words, the content of the story is too abstract, and let you different learning. It depends on the way you capture the events.

  2. Basically, in the interview he explains where, how and why did the idea of this book about childs not represented as angels as they always do on most of the stories came up. Also, he talks regarding two reasons on why he did it about a group of boys and not girls, first of all because he is a boy and had live all his life in that role so it would be difficult to reprsent the other gender, in the other hand he argues that in some way girls would have represented civilization of society but he don't know why. Reaching the end he also explains why it wasn't a mixed group, and claims that sooner or later it would have been necessary a relationship between the two sex and the book would have been based in sex; he didn't want that, he wanted to write about the problem of evil and how people have to live to get into a society.
I totally agree with him, specially on why girls shouldn't be represented in the story he wanted to write.

  3. In this interview, William Golding start talking about the 'idea', the principal idea of the book, he say that he thought that this was a very good and original idea. He also talks about himself as a father, brother, son. He understand what happend as a man, for that reason he wrote the book talking about boys and not about girls. He talks about the equality, he explain that a group of little boys is different than a group of little girls. In my opinion this book has a lot of interpretations, but I think that he wanted to transmit us the idea of civilization of societies and the difficulty of people living together in societies.

  4. In the interview William Golding explains why and how he decided to start writting the book. Moreover, he answer the question about why is a group of boys only. About this, he says that for his personal experience as a boy, it's easier to write from the head of one of them and not from a girl's head. Besides of this, he observes that for him, girls represent civilization, even if he does not know why, and that was not part oof the idea of the book.
Finally he says that a mixed group wasn't a good option becouse in that case it would be different relationships between them, in a sexual way, and he didn't want his book to be a sexual book.

  5. In the video, the author of Lord of the Flies explains how the idea of the book came up to him and why the book hasn't got feminine characters. On one hand, because he only can think and feel like a man ( that's his role in society ) , but on the other hand, he thought that creating a woman will also create sexual relationships with the previous masculine characters.

  6. william golding tries to explain that if the book was written without women is because he spend his life without one of them, never had a mother, sister or grandmother, I mean always remained close to male persons. He also thought like a man in every sense, never in the place of a woman or thought like them. I think Golding grew up with the idea that women play a lesser role in society than a man, and he was very discriminator with the women in general.

  8. in this video, william golding explains when was written this book, how was written, and why he wrote the book. he explains things like why on the story there arent womens, why he choose a group of boys over a group of girls and some excuses of this problem that he had. his opinion maybe is a little bit sexist, because he said that he prefer to wrote aboout a group of boys over a group of girls just because he is a male, or because he didnt thought that women could do the same that the boys. finally, he said that other thing was that if he wrote boys and girls toogehter it would had been a problem of sex.

  10. William golding, wants to explain with this video te way he started to write the story. It is interesting how he relate with the reality how, the teenagers will behave in a risky situation like the one of the book.
He always lived like a boy, and he wrote the story 'basing' on his life, he was a boy and write the story of a bounch of boys.He thinks that boys are more superior on society than the girls, i am in comnpletly disagree of that thinking, it is very male chauvinist. He wrote the story with no girls because if the boys had sex, it would be completly different.

  11. Well, first of all, writting this story was not his idea, one day he was standing next fire and his wife told him an interesting idea for a book, about a litte boys on a island and liked th idea, so he wrote it. Then he explains the reason why he did not include grils or women or at least a female figure in the story. To begin, in his childhood the female figure was not present, he did not have a sis or a grandma, he did not even have a mother. In addition to this he talked about something related with civilization and women, he said that women could represent civilization or reach it easier than men, but he did not know the reason and me neither, but in my opinion there is simple reason, women are more organized and their nature, which is clearly better than our one. Eventually he explains the final reason why he did not include a female been in the story, he did not want to crate a sexual atmosphere, he did not want boys horsing around with girls and that stuff. He introduced the sexual image with the haunting of the dirty and savage pig.
I believe that this is a really good story despite of the "acting edition", i can not stand reading in that way. Jose
